"Adipurush" Struggles at Box Office

Since its release on June 16, "Adipurush" has faced challenges at the box office, being labeled a disappointment. The film, directed by Om Raut and starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan, has been marred by controversy ever since its trailer debut. Negative reviews and criticism for its misinterpretation of the Indian epic "Ramayana" further added to the film's troubles. However, despite these setbacks, "Adipurush" managed to amass an impressive 390 crore gross worldwide.

The movie recently made headlines when the original Lord Ram, Arun Govil, along with Dipika Chikhlia and Sunil Lahri, who played Sita and Lakshman respectively in the classic television series "Ramayan," expressed their disapproval of the film, calling it a mockery of the Indian epic. Despite the backlash, it appears that "Adipurush" has succeeded in mitigating potential losses.

Thanks to Prabhas' immense popularity, the film's producers were saved from significant financial turmoil. Not only did "Adipurush" accumulate a worldwide gross of 390 crore, but it also generated over 100 crore in Telugu share alone. Prabhas' star power managed to attract audiences, a feat unmatched by recent Bollywood actors, including Shah Rukh Khan, who made his comeback with "Pathaan."

Unfortunately, "Adipurush" struggled to maintain its momentum at the box office, facing stiff competition from the Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani starrer "SatyaPrem Ki Katha," which premiered on June 29, coinciding with Bakri Eid celebrations. Despite a strong initial opening, collecting 91 crore across all languages, "Adipurush" was overtaken by "Pathaan," which opened at 57 crore, further contributing to its underperformance.
