As the new fiscal year commences in Tennessee, a range of contentious laws passed during the previous legislative session are scheduled to be implemented on Saturday. Among these laws are provisions addressing health care for transgender minors, police accountability, school safety measures, and teacher salaries.
With Republican control over the state General Assembly and the support of Republican Governor Bill Lee, numerous bills were passed, marking a significant legislative output. Notably, Governor Lee has not exercised his veto power thus far.

Following a tragic shooting in March that claimed six lives at a Nashville school, activists intensified their calls for stricter firearm regulations among lawmakers.
