Saira Banu Fondly Reminisces the Moment When Dilip Kumar Emotionally Expressed Himself Beside Unconscious Raj Kapoor in Hospital: Shares, 'He Beseeched Raj Ji, 'Raj, Awaken and Cease this Theatrics''
"Saira Banu warmly recalls the poignant instance of Dilip Kumar's heartfelt emotional outpouring by Raj Kapoor's bedside during his unconscious state in the hospital. She shares that Dilip Kumar implored Raj Kapoor, saying, 'Raj, awaken and abandon this theatrical display,' as she fondly reminisces the touching moment."
Following the passing of the iconic superstar Dilip Kumar, his wife Saira Banu has become notably active on social media, sharing cherished anecdotes and fond memories of her beloved "Dilip Sahib." In her recent online post, she eloquently depicted the profound bond that the legendary star of "Mughal-E-Azam" shared with the iconic filmmaker-actor Raj Kapoor.
Recounting their childhood companionship, Saira fondly reminisced about instances where the two luminaries not only wished each other well but also recounted the emotional episode when her husband was deeply moved upon Raj Kapoor's hospitalization due to a cardiac arrest.
Saira Banu utilized her Instagram platform to unveil a rare snapshot capturing Dilip Kumar whistling alongside Raj Kapoor playing the harmonium. In her accompanying caption, she emphasized that these two actors were childhood comrades who hailed from Peshawar (prior to the Partition). She shared, "Dilip Sahib and Raj Kapoor were childhood friends, originating from Peshawar, their hometown. Their shared journey led them to 'Khalsa College' in Bombay for education and subsequently to 'Bombay Talkies,' where they were nurtured under the watchful guidance of luminaries such as Devika Rani, the proprietor, Mr. Shashadhar Mukherji, the producer, and the eminent presence of superstar Ashok Kumar during their formative years."
Delving deeper into the depths of their friendship, she continued, "Raj Kapoor and Dilip Sahib cherished one another with a profoundness akin to siblinghood. Their thoughts, emotions, and unspoken dreams found a confidant in each other, possibly surpassing those within their respective families. If Raj ji found himself in London and Sahib called urgently for his presence in town for a significant occasion, Raj ji wouldn't hesitate to return immediately. Such was the depth of their love and respect. At our wedding, Raj ji and Shashi Kapoor danced joyously from Sahib's residence to mine. Despite the inevitable professional rivalry, they possessed—as true professionals should—a sincere desire to witness each other's triumphs. Their pride in one another was both heartfelt and loving. For instance, upon the release of 'SHAKTI,' Raj Ji sent a grand bouquet of roses to Sahib, accompanied by a special note reading 'Long Live The King.'"
Saira's posts serve as touching windows into the extraordinary camaraderie that characterized the relationship between Dilip Kumar and Raj Kapoor, illustrating the depth of their friendship that extended beyond the glitz and glamour of their superstar personas.
