A spectacular fashion show took place on Thursday, as local high school students from Glenview and Northbrook graced the runway with their unique designs. The event, hosted by Friends of Youth Services, unfolded at the Glenview Social Loft, highlighting the remarkable fashion prowess of both student influencers and talented individuals from nearby businesses.

Julie Bruch, President of the Friends of Youth Services board, emphasized the significance of the event in expanding community awareness about their impactful work. The proceeds from the fashion show directly contribute to Youth Services, a commendable program that offers essential services to over 1,800 children in Glenview, Northbrook, and surrounding areas. With a generous sliding scale and scholarship initiative, the organization ensures that no child is denied critical support due to financial constraints.

Bruch further elaborated on the vital role of Youth Services, emphasizing their focus on social and emotional well-being. Through one-on-one and group counseling, academic peer tutoring, and comprehensive support, they actively combat issues such as bullying, promote effective communication on gender identity, and strive for suicide prevention.

Youth Services firmly believes that every child deserves a happy, healthy, and hopeful upbringing, as stated on their website. Their overarching mission centers around nurturing the social and emotional well-being of all children and youth in the community.

The fashion show exclusively featured original designs by students Sophie Shafransky (sophomore), Daisy Hutchinson (junior), and Nicholas DeRosa (senior) from Glenbrook South High School. These budding fashion enthusiasts showcased their debut summer collections, which were the fruits of their studies in the Glenbrook South fashion program.
