Saira Banu Expresses Deep Sentiments About the Timeless Friendship Between Dilip Kumar and Sunil Dutt, Emphasizing Their Unwavering Support Beyond Opulent Lifestyles
"Today, I am filled with joy as I reminisce and unveil the treasured moments Sahib shared with those he cherished as friends. While Sahib was universally known for his affable and compassionate nature, only a select few were privy to the fact that he was also an exceptional friend—Sunil Dutt being one such cherished companion," she articulated.
Banu proceeded to reveal that beyond being neighbors, Dilip Kumar and Sunil Dutt were kindred spirits and confidants. She illuminated their stature as distinguished icons who transcended their own opulent lives, always extending a helping hand to the film fraternity, whether in times of industry-wide significance or during crises.
"In moments of great turmoil and sorrow, Dilip Sahib and Dutt Sahab would come together, their minds collaborating even past the stroke of midnight, be it 3 AM or 4 AM, whether it necessitated journeys to and from Delhi or offering solace to victims of the civil unrest in Mumbai," she recounted.
Banu recounted a poignant incident when Dutt, despite being injured in an unfortunate air crash on his return from a function in Shirpur, Maharashtra, made an ardent effort to reach Dilip Kumar's home, aided by a walking stick, to convey his heartfelt Eid Mubarak wishes. "Such was the magnanimity and camaraderie of Dutt Sahab," she emphasized.
Closing her reflection, Banu evoked the origins of the enduring bond between Dilip Kumar and Sunil Dutt, tracing it back to a radio interview in which Dutt discussed Dilip Kumar's role in the iconic film "Mother India," where Dilip Kumar declined the offer to play Nargis' son. Subsequently, Sunil Dutt assumed the role, cementing a friendship that would withstand the test of time.
