Rick Owens Lights Up Paris Men's Fashion Week with Ashy Runway Spectacle
Rick Owens surprised guests at Paris Men's Fashion Week by putting on a fiery fireworks display over the Palais de Tokyo. The stunning show resulted in attendees being covered in a layer of ash, creating an ethereal atmosphere both on and off the runway.
The event started with an eventful morning for Teyana Taylor, who battled jet lag and managed to wake up just 30 minutes before the show's scheduled start. Despite the rush, Taylor was determined to attend as Owens has been a major influence on her fashion journey. "He's one of the main reasons I'm even here. I was like, 'I gotta come,'" she exclaimed. Known for her unwavering loyalty, Taylor expressed her deep admiration for Owens, stating, "Everybody who knows me knows how much I love Rick. I'm like a Day One loyal."
Currently, Taylor is making a quick stop before heading to the Taormina Film Festival for the premiere of her new film, "A Thousand and One." Additionally, she is venturing into the world of design while also exploring creative directing opportunities for other artists. Her recent Air Jordan sneaker collaboration sold out within three minutes of release on June 1, marking yet another success in her versatile career.
Meanwhile, singer Eric Nam is also keeping busy with various creative endeavors. He is preparing for the release of his new single, "House on a Hill," scheduled for June 28. Simultaneously, he is starring in the upcoming film "Transplant" and working on a new YouTube series that premiered on June 1. Nam is also gearing up for an 80-city concert tour, which will be announced soon. Amidst all these projects, he is diligently working on his upcoming album, set to be released later this summer. The album will feature a unique concept, as Nam has filmed a short film to tie all the music videos together, making it his most ambitious project to date.
In addition to his music career, Nam hosts the YouTube show "Happy Hour," where he drinks with fellow celebrities. He jokingly admits that the show can lead to unexpected moments due to the effects of alcohol but assures that it is a lot of fun.
Offset, the rapper, had a conversation with Michèle Lamy on the sidelines before donning his hooded mask and taking his seat in the front row. Despite his masked appearance, Offset expressed his enthusiasm for attending Owens' show, praising the designer's work as more than just fashion but as a form of art that deserves a place in museums. He declared Owens' creative ethic as the theme of the season, emphasizing the importance of embracing uniqueness and celebrating the unconventional.
Adding to the eccentricity of the event, singer Tommy Cash arrived dressed as a mime and committed to staying in character throughout the show. Responding only through gestures, Cash entertained the audience while munching on a baguette, riding a penny-farthing bicycle, and sporting the MSCHF x Crocs big boots.
As always, Paris Fashion Week delivered unexpected moments and avant-garde fashion choices, with celebrities like Jared Leto, Noomi Rapace, Jack Harlow, Paul Dano, and Taeyang making their grand entrance at the Givenchy show held at the magnificent Invalides museum.
